The 3M 7100006311 is a latex-based intumescent firestop sealant designed to seal penetrations through fire-rated construction assemblies. When properly installed in tested and listed systems, it provides up to 4 hours of fire protection. The sealant dries to a red color for easy visual inspection and requires no mixing. It helps prevent the spread of fire, smoke, and noxious gases through penetration points, making it a code-critical material for commercial and residential construction. Licensed contractors and fire protection installers apply this product as part of a complete firestop system.
This sealant is used in fire-rated wall and floor assemblies where pipes, conduit, cable trays, and other items penetrate rated construction. It serves as both a firestop and an acoustic barrier, achieving an STC rating of 54 when tested in an STC 54-rated wall assembly. It also supports smoke-seal requirements for systems requiring an optional L-Rating. The 2-gallon pail format suits multi-penetration commercial jobs and larger residential projects where volume application is required.
Designed for use in tested and listed firestop systems at penetrations through fire-rated wall and floor assemblies, including those involving pipes, conduit, cables, and cable trays in commercial and residential construction.
Installation must be performed by a qualified firestop contractor or licensed tradesperson in accordance with the specific tested system design and applicable building codes, including IBC requirements. Power, utilities, or system services passing through the penetration should be in their final installed position before sealant is applied. Do not use this product as a standalone firestop outside of a tested and listed system assembly. Follow the manufacturer's published system drawings for correct sealant depth and annular space limits.
