The 3M 7100001475 is a ceramic-abrasive quick-change disc engineered for high-speed material removal on metal and other hard surfaces. Part of the 3M 984F Series, this disc uses a coated ceramic abrasive grain on a polyester cloth backing rated at YF weight, delivering aggressive cutting action with extended disc life compared to aluminum oxide alternatives. It attaches via the Roloc TR Type R system, allowing one-handed disc changes on compatible right-angle grinders and die grinders. At 60 grit, it falls in the medium grade range, suited for weld blending, surface conditioning, and rust or coating removal tasks common in fabrication, mechanical, and maintenance work.
This disc is designed for use in fabrication shops, mechanical service environments, and maintenance applications where fast, repeatable disc changes are required. The 2-inch diameter makes it well suited for work in confined areas and tight weld joints. It is typically installed and used by metal fabricators, pipefitters, millwrights, and maintenance technicians who require consistent cutting performance across stainless steel, carbon steel, and other ferrous metals. The orange button color identifies the attachment hub, and the maroon disc color is consistent with the 984F Series product line.
Compatible with Roloc TR and Type R quick-change disc holders and right-angle grinders or die grinders that accept 2-inch TR-style abrasive discs.
Install and remove the disc by pressing the button hub onto a compatible Roloc TR mandrel and rotating to lock or release per the mandrel manufacturer instructions. Verify the grinder free speed does not exceed the 25,000 RPM disc rating before use. Always wear appropriate PPE including eye protection and gloves when operating abrasive discs. Inspect the disc for damage before each use and discard any disc showing cuts, tears, or delamination.
