The 3M 7100000000 is a Cubitron 3 1184F abrasive cloth belt designed for high-speed grinding, blending, deburring, and finishing on metal workpieces. It measures 6 inches wide by 48 inches long and carries a 36 plus grit rating. The belt uses 3M precision-shaped ceramic grain, electronically oriented on the belt surface to form continuous sharp cutting peaks. This grain geometry maintains a sharp cutting edge throughout the life of the belt, generating less heat than conventional ceramic abrasives. Backing is YF-weight polyester cloth, a heavy-duty substrate suited to high-pressure backstand applications. The Film-lok splice and single-flex construction are engineered to run smoothly on contact-wheel and platen backstand equipment. Each case contains 5 belts.
This belt is well suited to metalworking and castings-and-forging environments where fast stock removal and consistent surface finish are required in the same operation. Common applications include knife making, weld grinding, deburring, and pre-plate or pre-coat surface preparation on ferrous and non-ferrous alloys. The closed-coat construction maximizes grain density for aggressive material removal. The belt performs in both wet and dry operation, which makes it compatible with flood-coolant backstand setups as well as dry grinding. Suitable work materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, titanium, cobalt alloys, and nickel alloys.
Designed for use on backstand belt grinders and similar contact-wheel or platen equipment. Compatible work materials stated by the manufacturer include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, titanium, cobalt alloys, and nickel alloys. Also available in 60 plus and 80 plus grit grades within the Cubitron 3 1184F product line.
Belt installation and tensioning should be performed by a trained operator following the machine manufacturer's guidelines and applicable ANSI safety standards for abrasive products. Before mounting, power down and lock out the backstand completely. Verify belt tracking and tension before returning the machine to operation. Do not exceed the rated maximum operating speed of the backstand, and inspect the Film-lok splice for damage before each use.
