The 3M 7010516644 is a coated abrasive belt from the 341D series, designed for aggressive stock removal on metal, wood, and composite surfaces. It measures 6 inches wide by 132 inches long and uses aluminum oxide grain at 36 grit, placing it in the very coarse grade range. Aluminum oxide is a durable, self-sharpening abrasive well suited to high-pressure grinding and blending applications. The belt runs on a heavy-weight X-weight cloth backing, which provides the tensile strength and flexibility needed for wide-belt and stroke-sander use. This belt is rated for dry operation only.
This belt is a fit for wide-belt sanders, drum sanders, and stroke sanders commonly used in metal fabrication shops, woodworking facilities, and industrial maintenance settings. At 36 grit, it is typically used for initial surface conditioning, weld seam blending, heavy stock removal, and scale removal on ferrous and non-ferrous metals. It is also used on hardwood and engineered wood panels where rapid material removal is the priority before stepping to finer grits. Closed coat density means the abrasive grain covers the full surface, maximizing cut rate per pass.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard supply belt for industrial wide-belt and stroke sanders that accept a 6 x 132 inch abrasive belt configuration.
Belt installation and replacement should be performed by a qualified machine operator or maintenance technician following the sander manufacturer's belt-tracking and tensioning procedures. Power down and lock out the machine before changing belts. Inspect the platen, contact drum, and idler rollers for wear or debris before seating the new belt. Confirm belt travel direction matches the arrow printed on the belt backing before resuming operation.
