The 3M 7010515216 is the Cubitron II Cloth Belt 947A, an abrasive belt engineered for low and medium pressure grinding and finishing on metal. It features 3M Precision-Shaped Grain, a ceramic abrasive technology that produces identical triangular-shaped grains electrostatically oriented on the backing. This grain geometry fractures continuously to maintain sharp cutting edges, which drives heat into the swarf rather than the workpiece. The result is faster stock removal, longer belt life, and reduced workpiece discoloration compared to conventional ceramic abrasive belts. The backing is an X-weight poly-cotton cloth, which provides a balance of flexibility and tensile strength suited to offhand and machine-guided work. This belt measures 1.5 inches x 30 inches and carries an 80 Plus grade.
This belt is optimized for low and medium pressure applications on stainless steel, mild steels, and aluminum. The closed coat construction and integrated grinding aid help control heat on temperature-sensitive metals, making it appropriate for finishing passes where surface integrity matters. Compatible equipment includes backstands, file belt sanders, inline sanders, and stroke sanders. The 1.5 inch x 30 inch size is well suited to handheld and benchtop offhand operations where maneuverability around contoured or intricate parts is required. Trades using this belt include metal fabricators, weld grinders, and maintenance machinists working in shop or field environments.
Designed for use on backstands, file belt sanders, inline sanders, and stroke sanders requiring a 1.5 inch x 30 inch abrasive cloth belt. Suitable for offhand grinding and finishing operations on stainless steel, mild steels, and aluminum.
Install on belt sanding equipment per the machine manufacturer's instructions, ensuring belt tracking is set before full-speed operation. Power down and de-energize or disconnect the sander before changing belts. Confirm belt direction arrow aligns with machine rotation direction where marked. Operators should use appropriate PPE including eye protection and gloves when handling abrasive belts and performing grinding operations.
