The 3M 7010512903 is a coated abrasive spiral band designed for deburring, blending, and finishing operations on metal, wood, and composite materials. Built with aluminum oxide grain bonded to a heavy cloth backing (X-weight), this band delivers consistent cut and durability under the demands of power-tool use. At 50 grit, it falls in the coarse grade range, making it well-suited for aggressive material removal and surface preparation. Licensed trades and fabrication shops rely on this type of abrasive consumable for finishing bores, inside diameters, and contoured surfaces where flat abrasives cannot reach.
This spiral band is used in drum sander and spindle sander applications across metalworking, woodworking, and general fabrication environments. The coarse 50-grit aluminum oxide construction handles heavy stock removal on ferrous and non-ferrous metals as well as hardwoods. It fits standard spiral-band holder mandrels sized for a 0.75-inch diameter band. Typical installation scenarios include inline grinding operations, pipe fitting prep, and tool-and-die surface work. Each package contains one band, with a minimum order quantity of 100 units.
Designed as a replacement-style coated abrasive spiral band for use with standard drum mandrels accepting a 0.75-inch diameter by 1.5-inch wide band in portable and bench-mounted sanding and grinding applications.
Installation is performed by trades and fabricators using a compatible spiral-band mandrel mounted in a die grinder, drill press, or spindle sander. Ensure the tool is powered down and unplugged before mounting or removing the band. Inspect the mandrel for wear or damage before each use, and confirm the band is seated flush and fully expanded before applying tool power. Follow applicable shop safety codes and wear appropriate eye and hand protection during abrasive operations.
