The 3M 7010508268 is a coated abrasive spiral band designed for precision grinding, deburring, and surface finishing in bore and tube work. It measures 1/4 inch in diameter by 1/2 inch wide and runs aluminum oxide abrasive at 240 grit, placing it in the very fine grade range. The cloth backing is rated X-weight, providing durability under moderate to heavy contact pressure without tearing or delaminating mid-use. This band is engineered for use on oscillating spindle sanders and rotary drum tools in metal fabrication, maintenance, and finishing applications.
This spiral band is suited for finishing inside curved surfaces, small-diameter bores, and contoured workpieces where flat abrasive media cannot reach. At 240 grit, it handles finish passes and light stock removal on ferrous and non-ferrous metals, hardwood, and composites. Typical users include metal fabricators, machinists, tool and die shops, and maintenance technicians working on close-tolerance interior surfaces.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement spiral band for use with standard 1/4 inch spindle sander mandrels and rotary drum tool fixtures common in metal fabrication and woodworking applications.
Installation is performed by tradespeople and machinists familiar with rotary abrasive tooling. Power down and disconnect the tool from its power source before mounting or removing the spiral band. Ensure the mandrel diameter matches the band interior diameter before seating to prevent slippage or workpiece damage. Follow the tool manufacturer guidelines for maximum RPM rating, and do not exceed the abrasive band speed rating.
