The 3M 7010508230 is a coated abrasive spiral band designed for precision sanding and finishing on contoured surfaces. It uses aluminum oxide as the abrasive material, bonded to a cloth backing with an X-weight designation, making it well-suited for applications that require durability under moderate to aggressive flex. At 240 grit, it falls in the very fine grade range, delivering smooth surface finish work without aggressive material removal. The 1-inch diameter by 1-inch wide form factor fits standard spindle sander drums and rotary tools used by machinists, woodworkers, and general fabricators who need consistent finish results on curved or irregular profiles.
This spiral band is used in maintenance, repair, and fabrication environments where spindle sanding of tight curves, inside contours, and cylindrical bores is required. The very fine 240-grit designation makes it appropriate for finish passes after coarser grits have removed the bulk material. It is commonly used on wood, soft metals, composites, and plastics where a refined surface is the end goal. Sold individually, with a minimum order quantity of 100 units per order.
Designed as a standard-size replacement spiral band for spindle sanders and rotary drum tools that accept 1-inch diameter by 1-inch wide abrasive bands.
Spiral bands are installed by trade and maintenance professionals onto compatible spindle sander drums or mandrels. Ensure the spindle tool is powered off and unplugged before changing bands. Slide the band over the drum and confirm it seats evenly before resuming operation. Do not exceed the maximum RPM rating of the tool or drum mandrel being used.
