The 3M 7010508192 is a coated abrasive spiral band designed for use on pneumatic drum sanders and mandrel-driven spindle tools. Built around aluminum oxide grain on a heavyweight cloth backing (X-weight), this band delivers consistent cut rates and durability across metal deburring, edge blending, and surface preparation tasks. At 120 grit, it falls in the fine grade range, making it suitable for finishing passes where surface smoothness matters without sacrificing stock removal speed. The band measures 0.75 inches in diameter by 1.5 inches wide and is sold individually, with a minimum order quantity of 100 units.
This spiral band is suited for metal fabrication shops, maintenance and repair operations, and tool-and-die environments. It is commonly used on inside diameters, contoured surfaces, and irregular profiles where flat abrasives cannot reach. The spiral construction allows the band to expand slightly under centrifugal force, maintaining consistent contact with the workpiece surface during operation. It is well-matched to ferrous and non-ferrous metals, plastics, and composites in both production and bench work settings.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard consumable for pneumatic and electric spindle sanders using 0.75 inch diameter spiral band mandrels.
Spiral bands are installed by trade machinists, metalworkers, and maintenance technicians onto expanding rubber mandrels or rigid drum mandrels. Before changing bands, power down the tool and allow all rotating parts to come to a full stop. Slide the band over the mandrel and ensure it is fully seated before resuming operation. Do not exceed the mandrel or tool manufacturer's rated RPM for this band size.
