The 3M 7010409127 Hookita 360L Film Disc is a coated abrasive disc designed for fine sanding and finishing applications on plastics, gel coats, fiberglass, and polyurethane solid surface substrates. Built on a durable film backing rather than standard A-weight paper, this disc delivers greater resistance to edge tearing and a longer service life in high-production environments. The aluminum oxide abrasive grain provides a fast cut with consistent material removal, while the open coat construction minimizes loading and keeps the disc cutting aggressively throughout its life. Rated at 12000 RPM, it is compatible with hook-and-loop backup pads and can be removed and reattached for extended reuse.
This disc is suited for finish sanding operations on composites, gel coats, fiberglass, and other solid surface materials at P500 grit, which falls in the fine-finishing range. It is commonly used in marine, automotive, and surface restoration workflows where a close-tolerance, consistent scratch pattern is required before final coating or buffing. The hook-and-loop attachment system makes disc changes fast during high-volume production runs, reducing downtime between grits.
Designed for use with hook-and-loop backup pads on orbital and random orbital sanders accepting 5-inch discs. Suitable for sanding and finishing on composites, gel coats, fiberglass, and polyurethane solid surface substrates.
Attach the disc firmly to a compatible hook-and-loop backup pad before operation and confirm the sander is rated for at least 12000 RPM. Always inspect the disc for tears or worn abrasive before reattaching for reuse. Wear appropriate respiratory protection when sanding composites or gel coats, as fine particulate is generated. Follow applicable workplace safety guidelines and equipment manufacturer operating instructions.
