The 3M 7010403595 is a wraparound heat shrink cable repair sleeve designed to restore damaged cable sheaths quickly and reliably. The sleeve wraps around the cable without requiring end access, making it practical for in-place repairs. Its inner wall is coated with hot melt adhesive that activates when heat is applied, forming a watertight bond against the cable surface. A corrosion-resistant metal clip secures the longitudinal seam, holding the sleeve fully closed throughout the shrink process. The result is a mechanically tough, sealed repair rated for use in aggressive environments including buried, submerged, and exposed outdoor installations. Licensed electricians and cable splicing technicians are the typical installers.
This sleeve is suited for repairing damaged outer sheaths on power and telecommunications cables in residential, commercial, and industrial applications. It is also used over cable joints to provide additional insulation and mechanical protection, and as supplemental corrosion protection on undamaged cable runs. The wraparound design allows installation on mid-span cable sections where threading from an end is not practical. No special tooling beyond a calibrated heat source is required for field application.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard repair sleeve for power and telecommunications cable sheaths requiring wraparound heat shrink protection.
Installation is performed by a licensed electrician or qualified cable splicing technician following applicable NEC requirements. De-energize and verify the absence of voltage on all affected conductors before beginning sheath repair work. Apply heat evenly with a calibrated heat gun, working from the center of the sleeve outward toward each end to prevent air entrapment and ensure full adhesive flow. Do not use an open flame torch, as uncontrolled heat can damage the sleeve or underlying cable insulation.
