The 3M 7010400774 is a gun-grade, latex-based elastomeric firestop sealant designed to seal construction joints and through-penetrations in fire-rated assemblies. Ready to use straight from the cartridge with no mixing required, it cures upon atmospheric exposure to form a monolithic, flexible seal. When installed in tested and listed systems, it provides up to 4-hour fire protection. The sealant also functions as an acoustic barrier and smoke seal, carrying an STC rating of 56 when tested in an STC 56-rated wall assembly. Licensed HVAC, plumbing, and firestop contractors apply this product as part of code-compliant penetration sealing.
This sealant is suited for residential and commercial construction where fire-rated assemblies require through-penetration or construction joint firestopping. Typical applications include pipe, conduit, and duct penetrations through fire-rated walls and floor assemblies. The product ships in a 10.1 fl oz cartridge and is available in red, making it easy to identify completed firestop installations during inspection. It meets International Building Code requirements and the intent of LEED VOC environmental regulations. No primer or special surface prep beyond standard cleanliness is required for most construction substrates.
Designed for use in tested and listed firestop systems involving construction joints and through-penetrations in fire-rated wall and floor assemblies. Adheres to a full range of common construction substrates. Specific listed system designations should be verified against 3M fire protection system listings prior to installation.
Installation must be performed in accordance with the specific tested and listed system requirements to achieve the rated fire protection. Power down or de-energize any electrical systems in the penetration area before sealing. Apply using a standard caulk gun and tool the sealant to the required depth and width as specified in the applicable listed system. Local Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) may require inspection of firestop installations prior to concealment.
