The 3M 7010398848 is a multiple-wall, semi-rigid heat shrink tubing designed for electrical insulation, strain relief, and environmental sealing applications. Manufactured from co-extruded polyolefin with selective cross-linking, it features a 2.5:1 shrink ratio and an integral meltable inner wall that flows when heated to create a moisture-resistant seal around wire terminations and splices. Each stick measures 48 inches in length with a 1/2 inch recovered diameter and is blue in color for circuit identification. Licensed electricians and electrical assemblers use this tubing in wire harness fabrication, panel wiring, and field repair work.
This tubing is suited for residential and commercial electrical installations, industrial wiring assemblies, and marine or outdoor environments where moisture ingress is a concern. The meltable inner wall bonds to wire jackets and connector barrels during the heat shrink process, reducing the need for additional sealant steps. Ensure even heat distribution along the full length of the tubing during recovery to allow the inner wall to flow uniformly.
