The 3M 7010398767 is a glass cloth electrical tape rated for use in 600-volt, dry-location motor and transformer applications. Known as Tape 69, it uses a pressure-sensitive, thermosetting silicone adhesive that bonds reliably across a temperature range of 32 to 392 degrees F (0 to 200 degrees C). The glass cloth backing resists rotting, shrinking, and burning, making it suitable for demanding electrical insulation work in motors, transformers, and coil assemblies. This product ships as a case of 24 rolls, each measuring 2 inches wide by 36 yards long. Licensed electricians and motor winding technicians are the primary installers.
Tape 69 is designed for residential and commercial electrical and motor winding applications. It functions as a coil cover, anchor, banding material, core wrap, layer insulation, and crossover insulator. Its edge-tear-resistant, conformable construction allows it to wrap irregular or curved surfaces cleanly. The tape surface accepts printing and marking, making it useful as an identification wrap in panel and transformer assemblies. The flame-retardant formulation and noncorrosive adhesive make it appropriate for enclosed motor and transformer environments where chemical and thermal stability are required.
Rated for 600-volt, dry-location motor and transformer applications. Compatible for use with Scotch 77 Arc and Fire Proofing Tape for cable bundling and marking applications, as noted in manufacturer documentation.
Installation is performed by licensed electricians or qualified motor winding technicians. Always de-energize and lock out the equipment before applying tape to motor coils, transformer windings, or any energized component. Apply with firm, even tension to maintain full contact with the adhesive surface and prevent air pockets. Follow applicable NEC requirements for insulation class and voltage rating when selecting this tape for a specific application.
