The 3M 7010398278 is a multiple-wall, semi-rigid heat shrink tubing designed for secure, moisture-resistant wire and cable terminations. Constructed from co-extruded, selectively cross-linked polyolefin, it features a 2.5:1 shrink ratio and an integral meltable inner wall that flows into voids and bonds to conductors as heat is applied. Each stick measures 48 inches in length with a 1/4 inch recovered diameter. Electricians and wire harness technicians use this tubing to protect splices, terminals, and connector entries in demanding environments where a single-wall tube would not provide adequate sealing.
This tubing is suited for residential and commercial electrical work, industrial control wiring, marine and transportation applications, and anywhere a hermetic, strain-relieved termination is required. The semi-rigid recovered wall provides both environmental sealing and mechanical protection. It ships in 48 inch sticks and is available in a minimum case quantity of 12 pieces, making it practical for shop stock and field service kits alike.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and general-use heat shrink solution for electrical splice, terminal, and connector protection applications requiring a dual-wall, adhesive-lined polyolefin tubing in the 1/4 inch size range.
Installation is performed by licensed electricians or qualified wire technicians following applicable NEC guidelines. De-energize all circuits before applying heat shrink tubing to any termination. Apply heat evenly with a heat gun working from the center outward to allow the inner adhesive wall to flow uniformly and prevent air pockets. Do not use an open flame, as uneven heat can scorch the outer wall and compromise the seal.
