The 3M 7010397399 is a female wire disconnect terminal designed for quick-connect and quick-disconnect wiring applications in HVAC, electrical, and control circuit work. The terminal accepts 22-18 AWG wire and features a 0.187 inch tab width, also referred to as a 3/16 inch tab — the standard size found throughout residential and light commercial low-voltage control wiring. The nylon insulation is partially applied and color-coded red to indicate 22-18 AWG compatibility at a glance, which speeds up identification during installation and service. This terminal is RoHS 2011/65/EU compliant, making it suitable for projects with restricted-substance requirements. Sold in a 100-piece package.
This disconnect terminal is used wherever a removable push-on connection is needed on a male tab or blade. Common applications include thermostat wiring, control board connections, motor lead terminations, relay coil leads, and harness repair in HVAC systems. It is also widely used in appliance wiring, panel wiring, and general electrical control circuits where a solderless, field-removable connection is preferred. The 22-18 AWG range covers the most common low-voltage control wire gauges encountered in residential and light commercial work.
Designed as an OEM-style solderless disconnect terminal for use with 0.187 inch male blade connectors on 22-18 AWG wire in residential and light commercial electrical and HVAC control circuit applications.
Installation is performed with a ratchet-style or PA-type crimp tool rated for insulated disconnect terminals in the 22-18 AWG range — do not use pliers or non-ratcheting tools, as under-crimping can cause connection failure. De-energize the circuit and verify zero voltage before terminating or removing any disconnect terminal. Ensure the wire is stripped to the correct length to achieve a full crimp on the conductor without nicking strands. For work governed by NEC, follow applicable Article 110 requirements for conductor terminations.
