The 3M 7010396550 is a yellow twist-on wire connector designed for fast, reliable splicing of solid or stranded copper conductors in the 18 to 12 AWG range. Sold as a 50-count pack, this connector is color-coded yellow for quick wire-gauge identification on the job. The shell is rated to withstand temperatures up to 221 degrees F (105 degrees C), making it suitable for use in enclosures and junction boxes subject to elevated ambient heat. The connector carries a 600-volt rating, with a 1000-volt rating in sign and lighting fixture applications. UL Listed and CSA Certified, it meets the compliance requirements most inspectors and project specs demand.
This connector is a general-purpose solution used across residential, commercial, and light industrial electrical work. Electricians reach for it when terminating branch circuits, splicing fixture leads, or making connections inside panels, junction boxes, and device boxes. The color-coded yellow shell allows crews to sort connector sizes at a glance, reducing mis-termination errors during rough-in and trim-out phases. It works equally well with solid and stranded wire, so it transitions cleanly between NM cable runs and flexible stranded leads without requiring a separate connector type.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and general-use twist-on connector compatible with 18 to 12 AWG solid or stranded copper conductors in standard residential and commercial wiring applications.
Installation is performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC). Always de-energize and lock out the circuit at the panel before making or disturbing any wire connections. Strip conductors to the manufacturer-recommended length, hold leads parallel, and twist the connector clockwise until firm resistance is felt. Do not use these connectors on aluminum conductors unless the product is explicitly rated for aluminum wire.
