The 3M 7010379729 is a dead-soft aluminum foil tape with a pressure-sensitive acrylic adhesive, designed for heat shielding, heat reflection, seaming, and sealing across HVAC, electrical, and industrial applications. The aluminum foil backing conforms to curved and uneven surfaces, making it suitable for wrapping ductwork, insulation seams, and irregular substrates. The acrylic adhesive provides long-term durability while still removing cleanly after masking use. This tape carries a UL 723 Class L classification for low flammability, making it appropriate for installations where flame-spread ratings are a code consideration. Licensed HVAC technicians and sheet metal contractors are the primary installers.
This tape is suited for residential and commercial HVAC duct sealing, insulation jacketing, heat shield fabrication, and light-enhancement applications. The dead-soft foil backing allows the tape to lay flat on both flat and contoured surfaces without lifting or creasing. Its resistance to moisture, UV exposure, weathering, and flame makes it a durable choice for mechanical rooms, rooftop equipment, and exposed duct runs. It is the linered counterpart to the 3M 431 aluminum foil tape, offering the same foil and adhesive system with a release liner for cleaner application.
Designed for use in HVAC duct sealing, insulation seaming, heat shielding, and light-reflective applications across residential and commercial mechanical systems.
Installation is typically performed by licensed HVAC technicians or sheet metal contractors. Surfaces should be clean, dry, and free of dust or grease before application to ensure full adhesive contact. Power down any associated electrical or HVAC equipment before working in enclosed mechanical spaces. Follow applicable mechanical and fire codes, including SMACNA duct construction standards and local building code requirements for tape used on air distribution systems.
