The 3M 7010378528 is a dead-soft aluminum foil tape with a pressure-sensitive acrylic adhesive and a release liner, making it the linered counterpart to 3M Aluminum Foil Tape 425. It measures 1.968 inches wide by 60.14 yards long with a total thickness of 4.6 mil. The foil backing is thermally conductive, helping dissipate heat and improving heating and cooling efficiency. It is used across HVAC, aerospace, manufacturing, and general industrial trades for heat shielding, seaming, sealing, chemical masking, light enhancement, and de-paint operations. The acrylic adhesive bonds durably under prolonged exposure yet removes cleanly after masking use.
This tape is suited for applications where a conformable, heat-reflective, and chemically resistant barrier is required. The dead-soft aluminum foil backing conforms to curved, irregular, and uneven surfaces without cracking or lifting. Common applications include HVAC duct seaming and sealing, heat shielding around temperature-sensitive components, light-reflective installations, and chemical milling or de-paint masking in industrial settings. The release liner allows precise, clean placement in both field and shop environments.
Designed for use in HVAC duct seaming and sealing, heat shielding, chemical masking, light enhancement, seaming, and de-paint operations across residential, commercial, and industrial applications.
Surface preparation is critical — clean and dry all substrates before application to ensure full adhesive contact. Power down or isolate any energized systems before applying tape near electrical or HVAC components. Apply firm pressure across the full tape width after placement to activate the pressure-sensitive adhesive. Follow applicable mechanical and building codes for duct sealing applications, including SMACNA and local energy code requirements.
