The 3M 7010373689 is a transparent UHMW (ultra-high-molecular-weight) polyethylene film tape designed for noise reduction, vibration damping, and surface protection in demanding trade and industrial applications. The polyethylene film carrier delivers a low coefficient of friction and strong abrasion resistance, while the acrylic adhesive provides reliable bonding with solvent resistance. This tape is applied by maintenance technicians, HVAC service professionals, and industrial trades wherever a durable, low-friction barrier is needed between moving or contacting surfaces. It ships as a single roll measuring 0.75 inches wide by 18 yards long.
This tape is well suited for applications where surfaces rub, slide, or contact repeatedly under load. Common uses include lining chutes, guides, wear strips, and conveyor components, as well as reducing noise from ductwork, cabinet panels, and mechanical assemblies. The transparent film blends into most surfaces and does not interfere with visual inspection of the underlying material. HVAC technicians often use UHMW film tape on metal edges, duct supports, and vibrating panel joints to eliminate contact noise without adding bulk.
Designed as a general-purpose UHMW film tape suitable for metal, plastic, and painted surfaces in HVAC, mechanical, and light industrial service applications where low friction and abrasion protection are required.
Surface preparation is critical — clean and dry the substrate thoroughly before applying the tape to ensure full adhesive contact. Apply firm pressure across the entire tape surface using a roller or squeegee to eliminate air pockets. In HVAC and sheet metal applications, ensure all sharp edges are deburred before applying the tape to prevent film puncture. No special tools or certifications are required, but follow site safety and lockout-tagout procedures when working on energized or pressurized equipment.
