The 3M 7010373248 is a single-coated, open-cell urethane foam tape designed for bonding, cushioning, and shock absorption in light industrial and assembly applications. Built on a rigid open-cell urethane foam carrier with a paper release liner, it measures 2 inches wide by 18 yards long and carries a nominal thickness of 64 mil (approximately 1/4 inch). The pressure-sensitive adhesive on one side bonds to plastic components, panels, and similar substrates without fasteners. Technicians and assemblers working in HVAC, electronics, automotive trim, or general manufacturing will find this tape suited for applications requiring a compressible, conformable layer between mating surfaces.
This tape is used in residential and light commercial settings where vibration damping, gap filling, or part-to-part bonding is needed. Typical scenarios include mounting plastic housings, gasketing irregular surfaces, and adding cushioning between components subject to movement or vibration. Its open-cell foam structure allows slight compression under load while maintaining contact with both bonding surfaces. The paper liner protects the adhesive face during handling and storage and is removed just before application.
Designed as a general-purpose single-coated foam bonding tape suitable for plastic components, light assemblies, and surfaces requiring cushioning or vibration isolation in light industrial and HVAC applications.
Surface preparation is critical before applying pressure-sensitive foam tape — clean bonding surfaces of oils, dust, and loose material for maximum adhesion. Remove the paper liner just before application and apply firm, even pressure across the tape face to ensure full contact. No special tools are required, but a roller or squeegee improves bond consistency on flat substrates. Avoid stretching the tape during application, as this can reduce effective thickness and adhesive contact area.
