The 3M 7010372133 is a double coated, open-cell urethane foam tape supplied in a black finish on a paper liner. Known in the 3M line as Tape 4052, it measures 0.5 inches wide by 72 yards long and carries a thickness of 0.03125 inches (1/32 inch). The open-cell foam core provides a degree of conformability, allowing it to seat against irregular or slightly uneven surfaces. Adhesive is applied to both faces, so the tape bonds two substrates together in a single step without requiring a separate adhesive layer. Trade and industrial users rely on this format for mounting, gasketing, and surface bonding tasks where a thin, compressible layer is needed.
This tape is suited for light-duty bonding applications in HVAC, electrical, and general mechanical assemblies where two mating surfaces need a secure, cushioned bond. Typical scenarios include attaching nameplates, foam gaskets, or lightweight trim components to panels and enclosures. The roll format and paper liner allow clean, controlled dispensing in shop or field conditions. Because the foam is open-cell, it is not intended as a primary air or moisture seal. It is sold in individual rolls with a minimum order quantity of 18 rolls.
Designed as an OEM-style bonding tape for use in HVAC panels, electrical enclosures, and light mechanical assembly applications where a thin double-sided foam tape is required.
Surface preparation is critical before application — clean, dry, and dust-free substrates improve adhesion significantly. Remove the paper liner from one face, position the tape, press firmly, then remove the second liner before mating the second surface. Avoid stretching the tape during application, as this can reduce effective bond area. This product is a bonding consumable and does not require power isolation, though installers should follow any applicable site safety procedures for the equipment being serviced.
