The 3M 7010368730 is a plated steel cartridge roll mandrel designed to connect an abrasive cartridge roll to a rotary power tool such as a die grinder or drill. The mandrel consists of two sections: a shank that seats into the tool chuck or collet, and a pilot that inserts into the arbor hole of the cartridge roll. This configuration allows a technician or fabricator to reach inside diameters, holes, angles, and curved surfaces that standard flat abrasives cannot access. The plated steel construction provides durability through repeated use in grinding and finishing operations.
This mandrel is used in metalworking and fabrication environments where abrasive cartridge rolls are required to finish internal or hard-to-reach geometry on a workpiece. It is suited for use with die grinders and drills in both shop and field settings. Cartridge rolls are sold separately. For safe operation, 3M recommends that the pilot length of the mandrel be at least 0.5 inches less than the overall length of the cartridge roll being used. For example, a cartridge roll with a 2-inch overall length requires a mandrel with a pilot length of at least 1.5 inches.
Fits all 3M Standard Abrasives straight, full tapered, and half tapered cartridge rolls. Intended for use with die grinders, drills, and similar rotary power tools equipped with a collet or chuck.
Installation is performed by metalworking tradespeople and fabricators using standard rotary tools. Before mounting the mandrel, ensure the power tool is fully powered off and disconnected from its power source. Insert the shank end firmly into the tool collet or drill chuck and tighten per the tool manufacturer's specifications. Verify that the pilot length of the selected mandrel is at least 0.5 inches shorter than the overall length of the cartridge roll before operation.
