The 3M 7010368295 is a non-woven aluminum oxide surface conditioning belt designed for one-step workpiece preparation ahead of final finishes and coatings. Built on an RC material backing, it delivers high initial cut rate and sustained cut rate throughout the belt's service life. The construction combines enhanced edge durability with consistent flexibility, making it well-suited for deburring, blending, cleaning, and light finishing operations on composites and softer metals. Licensed tradespeople and metalworking professionals use this belt on stationary and portable belt tools where flat and contoured surface work is required.
This belt is intended for general-purpose surface conditioning in fabrication, maintenance, and finishing environments. It performs well on flat surfaces and is a recognized starting point for bringing stainless steel to a No. 4 finish. Typical applications include coating removal, weld blending, oxide scale removal, and light deburring on aluminum, stainless steel, and similar softer metal substrates. The aluminum oxide abrasive on RC backing is suited for average to moderate contact pressure, making it appropriate for both manual and machine-assisted belt grinding setups.
Designed as an OEM-style surface conditioning replacement belt for use on standard belt grinders and finishing machines accepting 18-inch by 1/2-inch non-woven abrasive belts.
Installation and replacement should be performed by a qualified metalworking or maintenance professional with the belt tool fully de-energized and unplugged before changing belts. Verify belt tension and tracking alignment after mounting before resuming operation. Inspect the tool's platen and contact wheel for wear that could cause uneven belt loading. Always wear appropriate PPE including eye protection and gloves when handling abrasive belts and operating grinding equipment.
