The 3M 7010366970 is a 12-inch diameter silicon carbide unitized abrasive wheel from the Standard Abrasives 500 Series. It features a soft, conformable density construction built for light-pressure blending, finishing, and polishing on both flat and contoured surfaces. The open non-woven web resists loading, extending service life during repetitive finishing operations. This wheel is suited for fabrication shops, aerospace, and metalworking environments where close tolerances demand a controlled, consistent surface result. It is installed and operated by machinists, fabricators, and finishing technicians working with power tools and bench-mounted machines.
This wheel is designed for use on ferrous and non-ferrous metals, including exotic alloys and titanium, as well as composite materials. Its silicon carbide mineral cuts faster than buff-and-blend non-woven products while still delivering fine surface finishes. The wheel runs both clockwise and counterclockwise, providing flexibility across different tool configurations. It attaches to compatible tools using a unitized wheel mandrel, which is sold separately. Applications include surface blending, deburring, and finish polishing on precision parts where dimensional tolerances must be maintained.
Designed for use with a unitized wheel mandrel (sold separately) compatible with standard power tools and bench grinders that accept center-hole mounted wheels. Part of the Standard Abrasives 500 Series product family.
Installation should be performed by a qualified operator familiar with abrasive wheel mounting and tool safety procedures. Always power down and de-energize the tool before mounting or removing the wheel. Confirm the tool RPM rating meets or exceeds the wheel rating before operation.
