The 3M 7010366949 is a silicon carbide unitized wheel from the Standard Abrasives 500 Series, designed for light-pressure blending, finishing, and polishing on flat or contoured workpieces. At 2 inches in diameter, this non-woven wheel features a soft, conformable density that allows it to follow surface contours closely, making it well-suited for applications where tight tolerances demand precise material removal. The open web construction resists loading, extending service life in production and job-shop environments. Metalworkers, fabricators, and finishing technicians are the primary users of this wheel type.
This wheel is built for surface blending, fine finishing, and polishing operations on ferrous metals, non-ferrous metals, exotic alloys, titanium, and composite materials. It cuts faster than buff-and-blend style non-woven products while still delivering a refined surface finish. Typical applications include deburring, light stock removal, and pre-inspection finishing where surface condition must meet close dimensional or cosmetic tolerances. The wheel attaches to a compatible tool via a unitized wheel mandrel, sold separately.
Designed for use with rotary tools and machines that accept a unitized wheel mandrel; compatible with the Standard Abrasives 500 Series non-woven wheel system. A matching mandrel is required and sold separately.
Installation and operation should be performed by qualified metalworking or finishing technicians familiar with abrasive wheel safety. Always power down and de-energize the tool before mounting or removing the wheel. Verify that the tool RPM rating meets or exceeds the wheel RPM rating before operation. Inspect the wheel for damage before each use and follow ANSI B7.1 and applicable OSHA standards for abrasive wheel mounting and guarding.
