The 3M 7010366587 Scotch-Brite Surface Conditioning Belt is a nonwoven abrasive belt designed for detail finishing, blending, deburring, and surface conditioning on a variety of metals. Measuring 158 inches in length and 6 inches in width, it uses an aluminum oxide (AO) abrasive grain bonded with resin onto a scrim-reinforced backing. The open nonwoven web construction reduces loading and heat buildup, allowing for extended operating time and consistent results. Licensed HVAC techs, fabricators, and metal finishing professionals install and operate this belt in standard belt grinder and finishing machine setups.
This belt is suited for both robotic and manual processing applications where conformability to complex or contoured workpieces is required. Typical use cases include blending weld seams, deburring cut edges, flat finishing, setting grain patterns, and achieving straightline-brushed or stainless steel finishes. It performs across a range of metals where surface imperfections, grind lines, mill marks, and similar defects need removal. The reinforced backing provides the flexibility needed for work over contours, corners, and edges in detail finishing scenarios.
Designed as a replacement-style surface conditioning belt for standard belt finishing and grinding machines that accept a 158-inch by 6-inch belt configuration, used across metal fabrication and finishing applications.
Installation should be performed by qualified metal finishing or fabrication personnel following machine manufacturer guidelines. Power down and lock out the belt grinder or finishing machine before mounting or removing the belt. Confirm belt tracking and tension according to equipment specifications before resuming operation. Follow applicable ANSI and OSHA abrasive product safety standards during use.
