The 3M 7010366403 Scotch-Brite SC-BF Surface Conditioning Film Backed Belt is a non-woven abrasive belt engineered for cleaning, finishing, blending, and deburring operations across metal fabrication and surface prep applications. Built on a smooth, stretch-resistant nylon film backing, this belt maintains close, consistent cutting action through extended use cycles. The aluminum oxide mineral is bonded with resin to a non-woven nylon fiber construction that gradually breaks down to expose fresh abrasive, sustaining cut rate and surface consistency. Licensed tradespeople, fabricators, and machine operators working with stroke sanders, platen sanders, and wide belt machines are the primary installers of this product.
This belt is suited for both light cleaning passes and more aggressive deburring work on metal, wood, and composite surfaces. The film backing performs well in applications where reduced friction on the back of the belt is important, making it a reliable fit for stroke sanders and similar equipment where platen contact is involved. Open fiber construction allows swarf and debris to clear the abrasive face, reducing loading and extending usable belt life. The 158-inch length and 5-inch width make this belt applicable to industrial-grade wide belt machinery commonly used in production finishing environments.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or production abrasive for wide belt and stroke sander machinery accepting 158-inch by 5-inch non-woven film backed belts.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machine operator or maintenance technician familiar with wide belt and stroke sander equipment. Disconnect and lock out all power to the machine before mounting or removing abrasive belts. Verify belt tracking and tension settings according to the equipment manufacturer specifications before resuming operation. Inspect the belt and drive components for wear or damage prior to each use.
