The 3M 7010364968 Scotch-Brite LC-DH Light Coating Removal Disc is an 8-inch non-woven abrasive disc engineered to strip light, unwanted coatings from metal substrates without damaging the base material. Built on an open-web construction with medium-grade aluminum oxide mineral, it cuts fast and resists loading, keeping the abrasive surface sharp throughout the job. Rated to 4500 RPM, it mounts quickly via a Hook and Loop backing to compatible 3M Hook and Loop back-up pads, sold separately. Licensed HVAC, plumbing, and general trade contractors use it for surface prep before coating, welding, or joining operations.
This disc is suited for light coating removal tasks on both ferrous and non-ferrous metals, including paint, rust, sealant, and varnish removal in residential and commercial maintenance or fabrication settings. Its open-web non-woven design conforms to irregular surfaces, making it practical for contoured or flat workpieces alike. It is positioned as a lighter-duty, finer-finish alternative to 3M Clean and Strip products, targeting applications where substrate integrity must be maintained throughout the stripping process.
Designed for use with 3M Hook and Loop back-up pads compatible with 8-inch non-woven abrasive discs. Back-up pads are sold separately. Verify back-up pad RPM rating meets or exceeds 4500 RPM before use.
This disc is installed and operated by trade professionals performing surface preparation, coating removal, or finishing work. Before mounting, confirm the grinder or disc tool is powered off and unplugged. Verify that the tool RPM rating does not exceed the 4500 RPM disc rating, as operating above the rated speed is a safety hazard. Inspect the disc and back-up pad for damage before each use and discard any disc that appears torn, frayed, or delaminated.
