The 3M 7010364848 is a Trizact 217EA coated abrasive belt designed for intermediate finishing and fine polishing on metal and contoured surfaces. It uses 3M microreplicated pyramid technology, where micron-graded aluminum oxide particles are formed into uniform pyramidal structures bonded to a JE-weight rayon cloth backing. As the pyramids wear during use, fresh, sharp mineral is continuously exposed. This self-renewing cutting action delivers a consistent cut rate and predictable fine finish throughout the full life of the belt. The 90-inch length and 3-inch width suit wide-belt and long-belt finishing machines used by metal fabricators, automotive refinishers, and industrial surface prep technicians.
This belt is suited for light-pressure finishing applications on metal workpieces prior to plating, buffing, or final coating. The flexible JE-weight rayon backing conforms to contoured and complex profiles, maintaining consistent abrasive contact across irregular surfaces. The built-in grinding aid helps manage heat buildup, reducing the risk of heat-related warping or discoloration on sensitive workpieces. Its consistent performance characteristics also make it well suited for automated and robotic grinding and finishing systems where repeatable results are required across high-volume production runs.
Designed for use on wide-belt and long-belt finishing machines accepting a 90-inch by 3-inch abrasive belt. Intended for metal finishing applications including pre-plate, pre-buff, and contour finishing on fabricated metal parts.
Belt installation should be performed by a qualified operator following the machine manufacturer's belt-tracking and tensioning procedures. Disconnect and lock out power to the belt finishing machine before changing the belt. Inspect the belt for cracks, fraying, or splice separation before mounting. Confirm correct belt travel direction if the belt is marked with an arrow on the backing.
