The 3M 7010364785 is a 6-inch pressure-sensitive adhesive sanding disc designed for automotive body repair and surface preparation work. Each disc uses aluminum oxide mineral as the abrasive, delivering a fast cut rate and extended service life compared to standard garnet or silicon carbide alternatives. The pack contains five discs in assorted grits: three discs at 600 grit and two discs at 800 grit. Attachment relies on 3M Stikita peel-and-stick backing, allowing fast disc changes on a random orbital sander without the need for hook-and-loop hardware. Auto body technicians and collision repair specialists are the primary users of this product.
These discs are intended for automotive refinishing applications, specifically surface preparation steps that precede paint, clear coat, or sealer application. Typical tasks include sanding primer coats, scuffing blend areas around a repair zone, and removing minor clear coat defects. The 600-grit discs handle primer sanding and defect removal, while the 800-grit discs are suited for final scuffing and blend preparation. A compatible 3M back-up pad is required for use with a random orbital sander. This product is positioned within Stage 4 of the 3M Body Repair System workflow.
Designed for use on random orbital sanders equipped with a compatible 3M back-up pad that accepts 6-inch PSA-backed discs.
Collision repair technicians and auto body professionals install and use these discs. Before mounting a disc, ensure the back-up pad surface is clean and free of adhesive residue from previous discs to ensure full contact and even abrasion. Peel the release liner and press the disc firmly onto the back-up pad, centering it before use. Operate the sander at the speed recommended for the back-up pad being used, and do not apply excessive downward pressure, which can cause uneven scratch patterns or premature disc wear.
