The 3M 7010364684 Scotch-Brite Surface Conditioning Belt is a nonwoven abrasive belt designed for a wide range of metal surface work. Built on an open-web nonwoven construction reinforced with a scrim backing, it uses aluminum oxide (AO) resin bonding to deliver consistent cutting and finishing action without the aggressive loading and heat buildup common to coated abrasive belts. The belt measures 36 inches in length and 4 inches in width and weighs 0.54 pounds. It is installed and operated by metalworkers, fabricators, and finishing technicians on belt-driven grinders and finishing machines.
This belt is suited for detail work on a variety of metals including stainless steel, carbon steel, and aluminum. Typical applications include blending weld seams, blending corners, deburring edges, contour finishing, flat finishing, cleaning, setting the grain, and achieving straightline-brushed finishes. Its conformable open-web structure allows the abrasive to maintain contact with complex and irregular part geometries, making it well suited for both manual finishing stations and robotic processing environments. It is sold in a minimum quantity of 10 belts per order.
Designed as a replacement or consumable-stock belt for belt grinders and finishing machines that accept 4 inch by 36 inch abrasive belts used in metal fabrication and surface conditioning applications.
Installation is performed by the machine operator or maintenance technician servicing the finishing equipment. Disconnect and lock out power to the belt grinder or finishing machine before changing belts, following applicable OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Verify the belt arrow or grain direction marking aligns with the machine drive direction before tensioning. Inspect the contact wheel and platen for wear or debris before mounting a new belt.
