The 3M 7010363821 is a ceramic grain end tapered cartridge roll designed for aggressive stock removal on metal and hard surfaces. Built on an X-weight cloth backing with resin bonding, it handles the heat generated during heavy grinding. A grinding aid is incorporated into the abrasive layer to reduce heat buildup further, extending the life of the roll and keeping workpiece temperatures lower. At 1 inch wide, 2 inches long, and 3/16 inch in diameter, this compact roll fits standard cartridge roll mandrels used in die grinders and air tools. Grit size is 80, placing it in the medium-coarse range for weld blending, deburring, and surface conditioning on ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
This cartridge roll is suited for metal fabrication, maintenance and repair, and production grinding applications. Trades including pipefitters, welders, millwrights, and HVAC sheet metal technicians reach for this type of abrasive when working in tight or contoured areas that flat abrasive discs cannot access. The tapered end profile allows the roll to conform to inside diameters, grooves, and irregular profiles without losing contact across the abrasive surface.
Designed for use with standard cartridge roll mandrels on die grinders, straight grinders, and air-powered rotary tools sized to accept 3/16 inch cartridge roll shafts.
Thread the cartridge roll onto a compatible mandrel according to the mandrel manufacturer's instructions, ensuring the roll is fully seated before operation. Inspect the roll for damage or unraveling before each use and discard any roll showing visible defects. Always use appropriate eye protection, gloves, and respiratory protection when grinding. Verify that tool RPM rating meets or exceeds the maximum rated speed of the abrasive roll before operating.
