The 3M 7010363817 is a full tapered cartridge roll in the 747D series, designed for aggressive material removal and contour grinding on metal surfaces. Built on an X-weight cloth backing with ceramic abrasive grain and resin bond, this roll delivers consistent cut rates and resists heat buildup during use. A grinding aid is integrated into the bond system to further reduce heat at the contact zone, extending the useful life of the roll. At 0.75 inches wide, 1.5 inches long, and 0.125 inches bore diameter, it mounts on standard mandrel-style die grinders and fits tight-radius and contoured workpieces where flat abrasives cannot reach. The 80-grit designation places it in the medium range, suitable for weld blending, deburring, and surface conditioning on ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
This cartridge roll is used in fabrication shops, maintenance and repair operations, and production grinding applications. The tapered full-taper profile makes it well suited for inside diameter work, slots, keyways, and other confined geometries. It is typically run on pneumatic or electric die grinders by metalworkers, fabricators, and industrial maintenance technicians. The X-weight cloth backing handles moderate-to-heavy pressure without tearing, making it appropriate for both hand-held and fixture-mounted grinding setups.
Designed for use with standard mandrel-style die grinders accepting cartridge rolls with a 0.125-inch bore. Consult mandrel manufacturer specifications to confirm compatibility before use.
Cartridge rolls are installed by a metalworker or abrasives technician onto a properly sized mandrel secured in a die grinder. Confirm the grinder RPM rating meets or exceeds the maximum RPM marked on the roll or packaging before operation. Inspect the roll and mandrel for damage before each use and discard any roll showing uneven wear, tears, or core separation. Follow ANSI B7.1 and applicable shop safety standards when mounting and operating abrasive products.
