The 3M 7010363096 is a coated abrasive belt engineered for aggressive material removal on metal, weld seams, and fabricated surfaces. Built on a polyester cloth backing with YF-weight rating, it delivers the flexibility and durability needed for contour grinding and belt sander applications. The abrasive grain is zirconia alumina, a self-sharpening material that fractures during use to expose fresh cutting edges. At 60 grit, this belt falls in the medium grade range, making it well suited for stock removal and weld blending before finishing steps. It measures 2 inches wide by 48 inches long. Licensed HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical trades reaching for metal prep work will find this belt a dependable shop consumable.
The 577F series belt is designed for use on portable and stationary belt sanders in fabrication shops, mechanical rooms, and field service environments. It supports both wet and dry operation, which is useful when cooling the workpiece or managing heat buildup on stainless steel, carbon steel, and other ferrous metals. Closed coat density means the abrasive grain covers the full backing surface, maximizing cutting efficiency and minimizing loading on clean metal stock. This belt is a single-unit package, sold individually.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard consumable for belt sanders accepting 2-inch by 48-inch abrasive belts in industrial and trade service applications.
Install on a belt sander with the arrow on the backing aligned to the direction of travel to prevent seam failure. Ensure the sander is fully powered down and unplugged before changing belts. Inspect the platen and tracking roller for wear before mounting a new belt, as uneven surfaces reduce belt life. Follow applicable shop safety protocols including eye protection and dust collection when operating.
