The 3M 7010362598 is a coated abrasive cloth belt engineered for high-pressure grinding applications on metal. Built on a heavyweight resilient polyester backing, this belt uses 3M Precision Shaped Grain technology to deliver fast, consistent stock removal across carbon steel, nickel alloys, tool steels, and titanium. At 132 inches long and 3 inches wide with an 80 grit rating, it is sized for industrial belt grinding machines and wide-contact finishing operations. A heat-resistant grinding aid extends usable life on heat-sensitive alloys. Licensed metalworking and fabrication shops install this belt as a production consumable where cut rate and belt life directly affect throughput.
This belt is suited to off-hand grinding, weld blending, and rough stock removal in fabrication shops, aerospace component machining, and heavy manufacturing environments. The heavyweight polyester backing withstands the contact pressure typical in production grinding on hard metals. The 80 grit designation targets aggressive material removal rather than finishing, making it a first-pass or rough-grinding belt in multi-step processes. It is sold individually and is appropriate for both dedicated wide-platen belt grinders and contact-wheel configurations.
Designed for use on industrial belt grinding machines accepting a 132-inch by 3-inch abrasive belt, and suitable for grinding carbon steel, tool steels, nickel alloys, and titanium workpieces.
Belt installation and replacement should be performed by qualified metalworking personnel with the grinding machine fully de-energized and locked out per applicable LOTO procedures before changing belts. Verify belt tracking and tension according to the grinder manufacturer specifications before resuming operation. Inspect the belt for tears or edge damage prior to each use. Eye protection, hearing protection, and appropriate respiratory PPE are required when operating abrasive belt equipment.
