The 3M 7010361979 is an open-coat aluminum oxide cloth abrasive belt designed for aggressive stock removal on wood and metal surfaces. The premium aluminum oxide grain delivers a fast cut rate and extended abrasive life, while open-coat construction resists loading during use. A heavyweight cloth backing supports high-production environments where heat and pressure are constant factors. Resin bond construction holds up under those demanding conditions for longer service life. This belt is suited for wide belt sanding machines, edge sanders, and portable belt sanders operated by woodworking professionals, metal fabricators, and finishing trades.
This belt is built for demanding production and finishing work on both wood and metal substrates. The open-coat design is particularly effective on soft or resinous woods such as pine, where loading is a persistent problem. The washable backing allows repeated use on high-loading materials, reducing belt consumption in high-volume shop environments. It is appropriate for residential millwork, cabinet shops, metal fabrication, and similar industrial or trade applications where consistent, controlled material removal is required at P100 grit.
Designed for use on wide belt sanders, edge sanders, and portable belt sanders that accept a 60-inch by 37-inch belt. Appropriate for wood and metal material removal and finishing applications.
Install and replace abrasive belts with the sanding machine fully powered off and locked out per applicable OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Verify that the belt tracking and tension adjustments on the machine are set according to the equipment manufacturer guidelines before starting. Inspect the belt for tears or separation at the splice before each use. Personal protective equipment including eye protection and respiratory protection appropriate for the material being sanded should be worn during operation.
