The 3M 7010361271 is a Trizact 217EA abrasive belt designed for intermediate finishing and fine polishing on metal workpieces prior to plating or buffing operations. It uses 3M microreplication technology, where micron-graded aluminum oxide particles are formed into uniform pyramids and bonded to a JE-weight rayon cloth backing. As the pyramids wear down during use, fresh, sharp mineral is continuously exposed at the cutting surface. The result is a consistent cut rate and predictable finish quality throughout the full life of the belt. A built-in grinding aid reduces heat buildup, helping prevent warping or discoloration of finished workpieces.
This belt measures 90 inches long by 3 inches wide and is suited for light to moderate pressure applications on metal components. The flexible rayon backing conforms to contoured and irregular surfaces, making it effective for both flat stock and shaped parts. Its consistent performance characteristics make it well suited for robotic and automated finishing lines where repeatability is critical. Typical applications include pre-plate finishing, pre-buff preparation, and fine surface conditioning on ferrous and non-ferrous metals. It is used by metal fabricators, tool and die shops, and automated production finishing operations.
Designed as a replacement or production belt for stationary belt grinders and finishing machines accepting a 90 inch by 3 inch belt size. Verify machine belt-path tension and tracking specifications before installation.
Installation should be performed by qualified personnel familiar with abrasive belt finishing equipment. Power down and lockout the machine before changing belts. Confirm belt tracking and tension settings per the equipment manufacturer guidelines before resuming operation. Inspect the contact wheel or platen for wear that could cause uneven belt loading or premature failure.
