The 3M 7010361256 is a silicon carbide abrasive sanding belt built for metal surface finishing and cosmetic polishing work. It is constructed on a heavy YF-weight cloth backing with closed coat construction, meaning the abrasive grain is densely packed across the full belt surface for a more aggressive and consistent cut. Cork particles are blended into the abrasive layer to aid in producing the fine surface finish required on stainless steel, including the characteristic blue finish demanded in fabrication and finishing applications. The belt measures 132 inches long by 3 inches wide and runs at 220 grit. Resin bonding resists heat-related breakdown, extending service life under continuous use.
This belt is used in metalworking and fabrication environments where both material removal and final surface quality matter. It is suited for grinding, blending, and finishing passes on flat and contoured stainless steel and other hard metal surfaces. The flexible YF-weight backing allows the belt to conform to curved or irregular part profiles, maintaining consistent contact and finish quality across the workpiece. It is commonly used by metal fabricators, welding shops, and finishing operations requiring controlled surface preparation and cosmetic polish results.
Designed for use on belt sanders and finishing machines accepting a 132-inch by 3-inch belt in metal fabrication, stainless steel finishing, and surface preparation applications.
Belt installation and tensioning should be performed by qualified personnel following the sanding machine manufacturer's guidelines. Ensure the machine is fully powered down and locked out before changing belts. Verify belt tracking alignment before resuming operation to prevent edge wear or belt failure. Always use appropriate PPE including eye protection and respiratory protection when operating abrasive belts.
