The 3M 7010361031 is an aluminum oxide coated abrasive belt designed for metalworking applications on backstand grinders, file belt tools, and benchtop motors. Built on a flexible J-weight cloth backing, it conforms readily to contours and complex part geometries. The open coat construction evacuates sanding dust efficiently, supporting a more aggressive cut and extended abrasive life. At P180 grit, this belt is well suited for light grinding, finishing, deburring, and setting the grain on a range of metals. Resin bonding locks abrasive grains firmly to the backing for consistent performance through the life of the belt.
This belt is intended for dry metalworking on carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, brass, bronze, and copper. The 42-inch length and 1.5-inch width fit standard backstand grinder configurations used in fabrication shops, maintenance environments, and finishing operations. The P180 grit level positions it as a finishing and blending tool rather than a heavy stock-removal belt, making it appropriate for surface prep, deburring, and pre-polish work on ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
Designed for use on backstand grinders, file belt tools, and benchtop motors that accept a 42-inch by 1.5-inch abrasive belt.
Belt installation should be performed by a qualified operator following the grinder or file tool manufacturer's guidelines. Power down and lock out the machine before changing belts. Verify belt tracking and tension before resuming operation, and confirm the belt arrow or grain direction aligns with the intended direction of travel. Always use appropriate eye and respiratory protection when operating abrasive belts on metal.
