The 3M 7010360638 is a coated abrasive cloth belt engineered for demanding metal-working applications. Built on a tough polyester cloth backing with a heat-resistant resin bond, it carries sharp silicon carbide abrasive graded at P60 grit. Silicon carbide fractures predictably during use, maintaining a consistent cut rate and finish quality across the full life of the belt. At 90 inches long and 3 inches wide, this belt is sized for backstand grinders commonly used in fabrication and maintenance shops. Licensed trades and metalworking technicians rely on it for grinding, blending, deburring, and surface finishing on ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
This belt is suited for use on backstand grinder setups in industrial, fabrication, and maintenance environments. The polyester cloth backing supports both wet and dry operations, making it adaptable to coolant-assisted grinding or dry finishing passes. P60 grit positions it in the coarse-to-medium range, appropriate for stock removal, weld blending, and aggressive deburring on flat or contoured metal surfaces. It is not limited to a single metal type and performs consistently across mild steel, stainless, aluminum, and similar substrates.
Designed for use on backstand grinders for grinding and finishing applications on all metals including ferrous and non-ferrous substrates.
Installation of abrasive belts on backstand grinders should be performed by a qualified operator with the machine powered down and de-energized at the disconnect. Confirm belt tracking and tension per the grinder manufacturer specifications before running at full speed. Always inspect the belt for nicks, tears, or splice separation before each use and replace any damaged belt immediately. Wear appropriate PPE including eye protection and gloves when handling and mounting abrasive belts.
