The 3M 7010360314 is a coated abrasive belt designed for metal stock removal and finishing applications in industrial and fabrication environments. It uses a blend of ceramic abrasive grain and aluminum oxide, a combination that cuts faster and maintains a sharper edge longer than conventional aluminum oxide belts. The belt measures 15.5 inches in length and 2.5 inches in width with a P120 grit rating. A durable resin bond holds the grain to a heavyweight polyester cloth backing, resisting heat breakdown during extended use. Licensed metalworkers, fabricators, and grinding machine operators are the primary users of this belt.
This belt is suited for high-pressure grinding and finishing on ferrous and non-ferrous metals, including heat-sensitive alloys and stainless steel. The heavyweight cloth backing handles aggressive stock removal passes without delaminating. A built-in grinding aid reduces friction heat at the workpiece surface, making this belt appropriate for stainless steel applications where heat discoloration and workpiece damage are concerns. It can be run dry or with a compatible cutting lubricant depending on the application and substrate requirements.
Designed as a replacement abrasive belt for stationary and portable belt grinding machines that accept a 15.5-inch by 2.5-inch belt configuration. Confirm machine belt-path dimensions before installation.
Abrasive belts of this type are installed by qualified machine operators or maintenance technicians following equipment lockout/tagout procedures before belt changes. Ensure the belt tracking and tension are set according to the grinding machine manufacturer specifications before operation. Inspect the belt splice joint for proper orientation relative to the direction of travel before starting the machine. Wear appropriate PPE including eye protection and gloves during installation and operation.
