The 3M 7010360248 is a pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) diamond lapping film sheet designed for precision surface finishing on extremely hard materials. Precisely graded diamond abrasive particles are coated onto a dimensionally stable polyester film backing, delivering a consistent, repeatable finish across each pass. Measuring 3 inches x 6 inches and rated at 3.0 micron particle size, this sheet mounts directly to flat lapping tools or backing plates via its PSA layer, eliminating the need for adhesive compounds. It is used by machinists, optical technicians, tool-and-die professionals, and precision tradespeople who require tight surface-finish tolerances.
This lapping film is suited for flat lapping and polishing applications on ceramics, carbide, hardened steel, optical glass, fiber optic ferrules, and other hard-to-finish substrates. The 3.0 micron grade positions it in the mid-to-fine range of the abrasive sequence, typically used after coarser stock removal steps to refine surface texture before final polishing. It is sold individually (each) with a minimum order quantity of 25 sheets, making it appropriate for shop-stock replenishment or production line use.
Designed as an OEM-style abrasive consumable for use with flat lapping tools, backing plates, and fixtures that accept PSA-mount abrasive sheets in a 3 inches x 6 inches format.
Clean and dry the lapping plate or backing surface thoroughly before applying the PSA sheet to ensure full adhesion and prevent slippage during use. Apply firm, even pressure across the sheet when mounting to eliminate air pockets. Replace the sheet when cutting performance degrades or diamond particle loading is observed, as continued use past this point will not improve surface finish. Disposal of used abrasive film should follow facility waste guidelines for metal-laden abrasive materials.
