The 3M 7010359940 is a Trizact 217EA coated abrasive belt designed for intermediate finishing and fine polishing operations on metal and contoured surfaces. It uses 3M microreplicated technology, in which micron-graded aluminum oxide particles are formed into tiny pyramids bonded to a JE-weight rayon cloth backing. As the pyramids wear down during use, fresh, sharp mineral is continuously exposed, delivering a consistent cut rate and predictable surface finish throughout the entire belt life. The belt measures 84 inches in length and 4 inches in width. It is well suited for robotic and automated finishing lines where consistent, repeatable results are required.
This belt is intended for intermediate finishing and fine polishing steps prior to plating or buffing on metal components. The flexible JE-weight rayon backing conforms to contoured and curved surfaces, making it practical for complex part geometries. It performs best under light contact pressure, which allows the abrasive pyramids to break down progressively and maintain a controlled cut. A built-in grinding aid helps reduce friction heat, limiting the risk of heat-related warping or surface discoloration on workpieces. This belt is a strong fit for industrial metal fabrication shops, aerospace finishing, and automated robotic grinding cells.
Designed for use on belt grinding and finishing machines that accept 84 inch by 4 inch abrasive belts. Suitable for metal finishing applications including pre-plate and pre-buff surface preparation on ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces.
Belt installation should be performed by qualified grinding or finishing equipment operators following the machine manufacturer's guidelines. Ensure the machine is fully powered down and de-energized before mounting or removing abrasive belts. Verify belt tracking adjustment after installation before resuming production. Always use appropriate PPE including eye protection and hearing protection when operating belt grinding equipment.
