The 3M 7010359731 is a coated abrasive belt designed for aggressive stock removal and metal finishing in industrial and trade shop environments. It combines 3M ceramic abrasive grain with aluminum oxide in a blend that cuts faster and lasts longer than straight aluminum oxide belts. The heavyweight polyester cloth backing handles high-pressure grinding without breaking down. A built-in grinding aid reduces heat buildup at the contact zone, which is critical when working stainless steel and other heat-sensitive metals. The belt runs dry or with lubricant, giving operators flexibility depending on the application and material.
This belt is built for metalworking applications where stock removal rate and belt life are the primary concerns. Typical uses include weld blending, surface conditioning, and rough finishing on ferrous and non-ferrous metals. The 30-inch length and 1/2-inch width suit narrow contact wheel and file belt setups common in fabrication shops, maintenance facilities, and pipe and tube finishing operations. The 60-grit cut handles rapid material removal before transitioning to finer finishing steps.
Designed for use on file belt machines, backstand grinders, and narrow contact wheel setups that accept 30-inch by 1/2-inch abrasive belts.
Installation should be performed by a qualified operator following the machine manufacturer's guidelines for belt tension and tracking. Confirm the belt grinder or file belt unit is fully de-energized and unplugged before changing belts. Inspect the contact wheel and idler for wear before mounting a new belt, as damaged wheels accelerate belt failure. Observe appropriate PPE including eye protection and gloves when handling and operating abrasive belts.
