The 3M 7010359497 is a coated microfinishing film disc in the 268L series, designed for fast-cutting precision abrasion on close-tolerance finishing applications. An aluminum oxide mineral is resin-bonded to a 3-mil high-strength polyester film backing, producing a disc rated for up to 12000 RPM. The hook-and-loop attachment system allows quick disc swaps and reuse without adhesive. At 5 inches in diameter with a vacuum port configuration, this disc suits air-powered and electric random orbital tools used in surface prep and final finishing work. Automotive refinishers, composites technicians, and industrial finishing trades are the primary installers.
The 268L disc is built for defect repair and leveling, paint preparation, and final finishing passes where uniform, repeatable surface profiles are required. The water-resistant polyester film backing supports both wet and dry sanding applications. The micron-graded aluminum oxide mineral delivers consistent cut rates across the disc face, reducing the risk of uneven surface profiles during finishing operations. Color coding on the disc aids in grade identification and minimizes the chance of using an incorrect abrasive in a multi-step finishing sequence.
Designed for use with 5-inch hook-and-loop random orbital sanders and finishing tools equipped with vacuum dust extraction ports, rated to accept discs at 12000 RPM or below.
Attach the disc firmly to a compatible hook-and-loop backing pad before powering the tool. Confirm the tool's rated RPM does not exceed 12000 RPM before operation. Inspect the disc face and backing pad for contamination or wear before each use, as a damaged pad can cause uneven attachment and irregular cutting. Operate in accordance with applicable workplace safety requirements for abrasive tools.
