The 3M 7010350189 is a multiple-wall, semi-rigid heat shrink tubing designed for electrical insulation, strain relief, and environmental sealing of wire terminations and splices. Built from co-extruded, selectively cross-linked polyolefin, it features a 2.5:1 shrink ratio and an integral meltable inner wall that flows on heat application to form a moisture-resistant seal around the substrate. Each piece ships as a 48-inch stick and weighs 0.2 pounds. Licensed electricians and electrical contractors install this tubing on cable bundles, connector backshells, and terminal splices where a rigid, sealed sleeve is required.
This tubing is suited for residential and commercial electrical work as well as industrial wiring applications where a durable, semi-rigid protective sleeve is needed over conductors, terminals, or connectors. The meltable inner wall is particularly valuable in outdoor, wet, or vibration-prone installations where moisture ingress at wire terminations is a concern. Each 48-inch stick can be cut to length on the bench before installation, making it practical for a wide range of termination sizes.
Designed as a standard-format multiple-wall heat shrink sleeve for electrical wire terminations, splices, and connector backshells where a semi-rigid, sealed installation is required.
Installation is performed by licensed electricians following applicable NEC guidelines. De-energize all circuits completely before applying heat shrink tubing to any conductor or termination. Use a calibrated heat gun set to the appropriate recovery temperature and apply heat evenly along the length of the tubing to ensure full shrinkage and uniform inner-wall melt flow. Do not use an open flame, as uneven heat will cause incomplete recovery or damage to the tubing.
