The 3M 7010334840 is a clear reclosable fastener sold under the Dual Lock SJ3561 product line. It consists of a clear polypropylene mushroom-stem fastener with a clear acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesive backing. The fastener engages at 400 stems per square inch and reaches an engaged thickness of 0.23 inches. When two mating strips are pressed together, the interlocking stems create a firm mechanical bond that can be opened and closed up to 1,000 times without significant loss of holding strength. The adhesive backing allows direct application to clean surfaces without mechanical fasteners. Rated for use up to 220 degrees F, this fastener performs in both indoor and outdoor environments.
SJ3561 is suited for attaching panels, nameplates, trim pieces, signage, and components in HVAC, electrical, and general trade applications. The pressure-sensitive adhesive bonds to metals including aluminum and stainless steel, glass, and high surface energy plastics such as acrylic, polycarbonate, and ABS. The roll format at 2 inches wide by 50 yards makes it practical for production runs, field installations, and service work where custom-length pieces are needed.
Bonds to metals (aluminum, stainless steel), glass, and high surface energy plastics including acrylic, polycarbonate, and ABS. For best adhesion, surfaces must be clean, dry, and free of oils or contaminants prior to application.
Surface preparation is critical before applying pressure-sensitive adhesive fasteners — clean substrate surfaces with an appropriate solvent cleaner and allow to dry fully before peeling the liner and pressing the strip into place. Apply firm, even pressure along the full length of the strip to ensure full adhesive contact. Allow adequate dwell time at room temperature before loading the joint. Removal and repositioning after initial adhesive contact is not recommended as adhesive strength may be compromised.
