The 3M 7010334144 is a ultra-high molecular weight (UHMW) polyethylene film tape designed for noise reduction, vibration dampening, and surface protection in demanding applications. The tape features a 4.5 mil UHMW polyethylene film backing bonded with a solvent-resistant acrylic adhesive. Its low coefficient of friction combined with strong abrasion resistance makes it well-suited for use in mechanical assemblies, conveyor systems, chutes, and wear surfaces where conventional tapes would break down. Each roll measures 11 inches wide by 18 yards in length and weighs 2.55 pounds.
This tape is applied in industrial and commercial settings wherever sliding contact, abrasion, or surface noise must be controlled. Common applications include lining guide rails, protecting sheet metal edges, reducing squeaks in assemblies, and serving as a low-friction surface in material handling equipment. It is used by mechanical contractors, equipment technicians, and industrial maintenance personnel working on conveyor lines, packaging machinery, and fabricated metal assemblies.
Designed as a general-purpose UHMW film tape suitable for bonding to metal, plastic, wood, and painted surfaces in industrial and commercial maintenance applications.
Surface preparation is critical before application — clean the substrate with an appropriate solvent to remove grease, dust, and moisture, then allow it to dry completely. Apply firm, even pressure across the full tape width using a roller or squeegee to ensure full adhesive contact. This tape is typically applied by maintenance technicians and does not require special tools beyond standard surface prep and application equipment. Avoid stretching the tape during application, as this can reduce adhesive contact area and long-term hold.
