The 3M 7010330283 is a silicon carbide unitized abrasive wheel from the Standard Abrasives 500 Series, designed for light-pressure blending, finishing, and polishing on flat or contoured workpiece surfaces. The soft, conformable density of the non-woven construction allows the wheel to follow irregular contours and maintain consistent contact pressure without removing excessive base material. This makes it well suited for applications where close tolerances must be maintained. The open web structure resists loading, extending service life compared to conventional abrasive media. Installation requires a unitized wheel mandrel, sold separately. The wheel measures 2 inches in diameter and ships in units of one.
This wheel is used in metal fabrication, aerospace, and general manufacturing environments where surface finishing quality is critical. Silicon carbide mineral cuts effectively on ferrous metals, non-ferrous metals, exotic alloys, titanium, and composite materials. Typical applications include light deburring, blending weld seams, and pre-inspection surface prep on precision components. The wheel runs clockwise and counterclockwise, offering flexibility across a range of handheld and bench-mounted rotary tools.
Designed for use with rotary tools and machines that accept a center-hole unitized wheel mounted via a compatible unitized wheel mandrel. Suitable for ferrous and non-ferrous metals, exotic metals, titanium, and composite materials.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or fabricators familiar with abrasive tooling. The wheel must be mounted on a correct-size unitized wheel mandrel before use; never operate the wheel without a properly seated mandrel. Verify that the tool speed rating does not exceed the maximum RPM rating of the wheel and mandrel assembly. Inspect the wheel for damage before each use and discontinue use if cracking, deformation, or excessive wear is observed.
